Has anyone had this? Dizzy spell like room has flipped

I was out for a pizza last night. I suddenly felt twang (only way I can describe it I almost heard it) in my head and I felt like the room had flipped upside down. I held onto the table and after about 20 seconds maybe it stopped.

Today I’ve been feeling like I have a heavy weight sitting on top of my head.

I phoned doctor this morning but I was number 57 in the queue! So gave up.

Was it low blood sugar ?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 05/09/2022 21:07

Maybe some kind of vertigo but the twang is odd. I think you need to get checked asap.

AbsentinSpring · 05/09/2022 21:11

Google BPPV and see if that fits.

The "twang" - could it have come from your neck?.

And persevere with getting in touch with your GP.

Pikafuckingwho · 05/09/2022 21:29

The twang was odd. I’ll call GP tomorrow.

The twang seems bad and I'm not advising you to ignore it.

However I recently had a similar feeling and did this manoeuvre to fix it. It was like magic. Who knew you had crystals in your ear and they can be in the wrong place???! So weird.. www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/treatment-tests-and-therapies/home-epley-maneuver

I did this manoeuvre to myself today @Mardyface! Been suffering with vertigo for 10 days so watched a YouTube video and can't believe I fixed myself. I had NO idea about ear crystals.

Yes I had this once and that’s exactly how I described it!!!! It sort of faded off and never happened again, this was about 5 years ago.

elizabethdraper · 05/09/2022 21:39

I get this it was realigned on Saturday

Mine is low blood pressure related

I used to get this twang a few times a year — it was painful tho. Sharp, awful pain that seemed to send a shock through me if that makes sense. I also suffered from horrendous headaches, though I always have, for as long as I can remember. Admitted to hospital who did eff all. Oh they did a chest X-ray , for headaches and weird twang pain. (?)
Eventually saw a chiropractor who examined me and told me exactly where the pain I’d been experiencing was ( I’d deliberately just said headaches). X-rays showed I have a really weirdly shaped neck , and was lopsided. Anyway upshot was she put it right. Brilliant woman. Never had the twang since and headaches diminished to very infrequent. Can’t remember when I last had one.
Get it checked out as no one here, bar a doctor, can know what it is and I hope it’s as simple as mine was.

I suffer from Bpv and I do the half somersault manoeuvre (Google it, there's lots of videos). It works really well and you can do it on your own. Don't get me wrong it's bloody horrendous whilst you are doing it, I always feel so sick but it's amazing and as soon as that stops you feel back to normal relatively quickly.

I had an attack at the weekend (woke up with it after sleeping with one pillow instead of two) and I had to do this manoeuvre. I did it three times (with 15 min intervals) and then Took two anti sickness tablets and sat still (and upright) for a few hours. I was back to normal by mid afternoon.

I couldn't believe I'd fixed myself either! I assumed it was just nonsense but did it anyway and then it was like wait... what?!

Maybe vertigo from an ear infection? I had this and fell over in the shower. Everything spinning as if I was drunk!
