Would you be ok with this as savings? I am suddenly a single parent and ex being v evasive about finances. I’ve no idea how long it will take to sort. In the meantime I’m having sleepless nights as I feel very alone. Mortgage and CT are 1200.

Income ?

Savings is irrelevant if you are dipping into it every month - what’s your incomings and outgoings?

Income 2300 a month without maintenance which hopefully will get sorted

I also get 80 child benefit and 80 for rental of garage

id say its fine but then you havent said how much outgoings you have apart from mortgage and CT, its hard to help when you dont give all the information

Is the income, without maintenance, enough to cover your outgoings, with some room for increased costs? So can you live and save a bit each month? If so, you’re fine. If not, you’re not.

Well it's certainly not to be sniffed at
More than enough to cover a new car/ months out of work/a new boiler i'e big expense costs.

However if you are having to dip into it for every day living then that isnt good.
However generally I think financially you will be ok.
