What is a reliable thermometer for an adult?
I have a condition where I need to monitor my temperature and take it daily. I take my temperature several times a day - morning, afternoon, evening and night. If there's anything outside of the ordinary pattern I know that maybe I am flaring up. For example my morning temperature is usually low for about 36.5 to 36.8. It generally rises over the day too. I am still trying to establish a flare up and I think I might have seen a pattern now. If I have a low grade fever 37.5 to 37.9 for a few evenings in a row, I think I am in a flare and at that stage I need to go to the doctor. There's no point delaying it because if I ignore it it usually does eventually spike into a fever. I am prone to infections in my bowel and its so hard to pinpoint a flare.
I currently have a Braun in ear thermometer. I great tip I got before is to take he temperature in one ear and then the other and then go back to the other and take the average over the three readings. This is because the temperature can vary between the ears.
I have an issue in that when I do that, I can sometimes get very different readings. So tonight's temperature check was done
- R ear 37.2
- L ear 37.6
- R ear 37.3
And then I went back to the left ear and it was 37.3.
It's all so different and within seconds of each reading too.
Does anyone else experience the same with a thermometer? Having different readings.
I would like to get a reliable thermometer.
I think it would be great of a thermometer came with Bluetooth and I could monitor my temperature with an app but the last time I looked on amazon those thermometers were geared towards fertility checking and came with a subscription based app. I don't want to pay for a subscription app.
Can anyone help me with a reliable thermometer?
Thanks
