Do you have a close relationship with a sibling of the opposite sex?

Hi all,

I'm just wondering really I'm an only child and my husband only has brothers but were expecting a little girl in November and I already had a 20 month old son so I'm just wondering what they're relationship might look like.

I know everyone's an individual and everyone is different and siblings are different but I'm just wondering what it looks like if you're quite close and what not.

Thanks :)

Hi Liza,

I'm very close to my brother who is 2 years younger than me. I have more siblings but I am closest to him. I have a daughter and also expecting the opposite sex in late nov. I'm hoping they will have the same close bond. I think it comes down to personality if they get on I think.

I have brothers and we are really close, always have been. I get along well with all of them, bur particularly with the one that’s closest to me in age (two-year age gap). ☺️

As you say every family is different and there's no guarantee they'll be close as adults.
But I have a brother who is 15 months younger than me and we see each other/text all the time, he also stays about five minutes away so our kids are really close too. It's lovely!

My brother and I are close. We had a very turbulent upbringing and we've both got our scars, but he's one of the few people I really trust. We're in contact most days, and see each other quite regularly.

I get on great with my brother's, both older and younger.
They've always been very protective of me. We talk about absolutely everything and anything, and I know they'll always be there for me.
