Need ideas please for a 3 year old birthday present. Budget up to £50, but could stretch. I would need to order online as the birthday is next weekend.

This thread is quite old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for toy or gift ideas for three-year-olds, we’ve recently updated our best toys for 3-year-olds page with lots of great options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users and their kids. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

Wooden kitchen / play foods. Look at brands like Melissa & Doug and Le Toy Van for good quality, durable wooden toys.

Playing shops, making foods, teddies picnics. These generate hours and hours of play.

Magnetic tiles such as Connetix, Magna-tiles or Picasso tiles. I've yet to meet a child who didn't play with them. Smile

I was thinking some sort of construction toys, as mine loved them. Already has a kitchen and food.

Duplo or Brio perhaps?

A children’s camera- sorry can’t get the link to work. A three year old I know loves his and takes it everywhere.

Melissa and Doug toys are very good

I second the suggestion for magnetic tiles(theres a few brands available)

Sounds really simple and boring but children absolutely love them as they are so versatile. Probably the most used toy of everything we have as they are incorporated into other games e.g. made into castles for dolls, towers buying competitions, boxes for pretend magic tricks etc.

They don't need a huge amount of adult participation either.

Melissa and Doug ice cream set or a big Duplo set

If you are spending £50 I would ask the parents.
