What age would you let your DD travel alone?

By coach (national express or similar) from our city to one around 100 miles away? We would see her onto the coach at our end and she would be met by older teenage cousins when she arrived. I've never used national express type coaches so no idea how safe it would be. DD is 13 and doesn't currently use public transport although we could do some local practice runs and see how she gets on. I actually think she would be fine but keep having 'am i being totally irresponsible to even consider this?' moments so need some objective opinions please Blush

I wouldn’t have a problem with that. I flew to Lanzarote solo when I was 12….. my parents were there already and mums best friend took me to the airport and checked me and my baggage in. We flew to Lanzarote a few times a year so we’re familiar with Gatwick. mum met me at arrivals in Lanzarote…. Super easy!

I’ve have seen my 13 year old into her pre-booked seat on a train at our local station to a city 2.5 hours away. My brother met her from the train and we kept in touch via WhatsApp during her journey.

She did this after 6 months of getting the train to school every day (3 stops).

She now loves doing the big train journey and has done it twice again since. I know neither she nor I would have been confident enough unless she’d become familiar with trains, stations and tickets etc through her school travel. The summer before she started taking the train to school we did practice journeys and then she did the trip a few times in the holidays with friends to build up to it. Once it became totally normal to her she was very up for the big trip.

considering that she's being dropped off and picked up on the other side i think she'll be fine maybe do check-ins every half an hour to put your mind at rest

She needs to be 14 to travel on NE

I would say that you also need to bring their personality into it. But I would say 15 if they were taken and picked up x

Yes fine, she’ll just sit there with her headphones in.
