Recommendations for heated throws, please!

As per title, my DH has a health condition and takes medication which means he gets very cold whilst sitting still all day for work (WFH). We’re looking to keep our fuel use down this winter, if possible, so I need to try to get him some warm things.

Please could you recommend any heated throws (as opposed to blankets) that you’ve tried and found to work well? The more flexible the better, so that he can easily drape it over his legs.

He also gets very cold feet so if anyone has experience of a heated foot muff where both feet sit together inside it, if that’s even a thing - sorry for clumsy wording, I’m not very well at the moment so I can’t articulate myself very well - that’d be very helpful (already has sheepskin booties/slippers but sadly these aren’t enough to help him keep comfortable).

Thank you very much, and hopefully the thread might be useful for others too!

This thread is quite old now, but if you’ve landed here looking for advice on keeping warm this winter, we’ve recently updated our best heated throw page with loads of toasty, cost-effective blankets Mumsnetters love. We hope it’s helpful.

Watching for interest!

NiqueNique · 03/09/2022 15:25

Me too! Smile

I like to make wise purchasing decisions, particularly when spending money to save money, which is why I’d really love to have some personal recommendations for specific items/brands - it’s hard to know what to buy from where!

I have a Dreamland one. It's bloody brilliant.
Also have a Dreamland heated blanket.
I have chronic illness and also get freezing cold. The heated throw is a game changer.
You can also get heated body warmers, but I've not tried them.

MissisBoote · 03/09/2022 15:30

Uniqlo Extra warm thermals are brilliant too.

NiqueNique · 03/09/2022 15:33

Ah thanks @MissisBoote is that the Lakeland one?

Yes, good point about the thermals and thanks for the recommendation!

NiqueNique · 03/09/2022 15:38

Thank you @Justme10! I hadn’t thought of microwaveable slippers.

I've been looking at a heated blanket as well since Il be working from home more in the next couple of months.

Can’t help with the throw but I got one of these pouch hot water bottles for my mum last year and she (and her feet) really rates it.

magicstar1 · 03/09/2022 15:43

You can get a plug in door warmer, or you can one like a big double slipper with a hot water bottle underneath. I got one of those for my dad a couple of years ago.

magicstar1 · 03/09/2022 15:44

*foot warmer not door warmer

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/09/2022 15:45

I got mine from Argos years ago and still going strong.

Ragruggers · 03/09/2022 15:49

Ah thanks @MissisBoote is that the Lakeland one?

Yes, good point about the thermals and thanks for the recommendation!

No - it's by Dreamland. I think you can buy them from Lakeland/Argos/Amazon/Dunelm/Currys

NiqueNique · 03/09/2022 15:58

@MissisBoote thank you! I did look further at google results and figured it out (as I said, I’m slow atm...).

Thanks everyone for suggestions/recommendations.

DD has one from Amazon, can't remember the name, German sounding possibly beginning with a B. She loves it.

Snowiscold · 03/09/2022 17:06

I have a Dreamland one

Ogonek · 26/10/2022 18:22

Apologies for resurrecting this thread but I did a search and found the Lakeland heated throws being recommended.

I’ve just bought one and switched it on for the first time today……the disappointment! I’m wondering whether I've got a duff one because it barely got warm at all. I let it heat up on setting 2 but it didn’t seem to get warm at all - in the end I switched it up to the top setting, 9, and it was still difficult to work out whether it was working. DH and I eventually agreed it was, but only just perceptibly.

@Ragruggers it sounds as though we’ve got the same one, the Arctic fur one, do you mind me asking if this sounds right?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/10/2022 08:56

That doesn't sound right at all. They're customer service is excellent so contact them. My Dreamland one gets really warm, too long to sit under at the 9 setting for very long even when it's freezing.

Ogonek · 27/10/2022 11:14

Thanks @MrsPelligrinoPetrichor - I did ring them in the end. They agreed it didn't sound right and they're going to replace it. Such a pity because it arrived super-quickly and I was so looking forward to trying it! Not had the heating on much and it's getting a bit nippy now.

However, as you say, Lakeland's customer service is great so I'm confident they'll sort it out efficiently.
