Dd is going into year 3 therefore will not be getting free lunches anymore. She wants to go pack lunch which is good as school dinners work out expensive.

but I need some inspiration for some quick & easy lunch ideas. Obviously I have made plenty of lunches for trips out etc but never had to make one every day for school!

she will eat most things.

I tend to get a shop delivered on a Monday to last all week without doing much of a top up (apart from bread & milk in local shop which is expensive so don't buy much else from there). Dp works by a supermarket so can pick up a few bits on the way home...

I just think she'll get bored of sandwiches quickly!!

also, good lunch boxes with compartments?? My local shops are pants for selection of lunch boxes.

Pasta with tuna/chicken/prawns etc.

Couscous or rice with veg and protein.

Omelette or boiled eggs

Pizza

Quiche

Selection box (couple of veg, couple of fruits, egg/ham/chicken or any other protein, cheese, breadsticks and a dip)

Changing the type of bread can help spin out the sandwiches.... Wraps, bagel thins, mini pittas etc.

Cheese and marmite sarnies are the best though.

Dash of mango chutney or mint sauce with your fillings adds a new dimension too. DS loved that.

Ooh place marking, as although DS who's also going into year 3 has been on packed lunches, I'd love some new ideas!

Food flasks are good - my Dd likes bolognese or noodles in hers.

I also make her cold salads with cous cous or pasta.

Picky lunches like cocktail sausages, cubes of cheese, pitta bread or crackers.

Savoury muffins or mini frittatas

Ds going into yr3 and regularly has packed lunches. He has the sistema bento box, the larger one. Either has wrap with cheese, cream cheese, peanut butter/ cheese or cream cheese sandwich. Savoury muffins, CPU’s CPU’s salad or pasta salad. Cheese pieces. Veg- carrot, cucumber, olives. Fruit, homemade cake or flapjack/yoghurt/jelly/custard. I make the sugar free jelly. Crackers with dip. Popcorn, nuts. Crisps. He doesn’t get all that on one day I vary it through the week.
