Yes to a baby
No to a blanket.
Nothing else is needed on top of these.
They come in different togs like duvets

Sleep suits and gro bags!

This is a guide of what to put baby in depending on the temperature of the room. You don't need to put a blanket on top of a sleeping bag. They will get too hot. You need to choose a sleeping bag with the right tog for the temperature, or layer them up in a vest and babygrow if using a blanket.

Vest, babygrow, and then once old enough, a sleeping bag. No blanket

CucumberCool · 02/09/2022 19:37

Mine is just in a baby grow at the moment. Then when it gets cooler she will have a sleeping bag too then add a vest in the winter. Blankets can get a bit tangled and have potential of covering her face.

I know you meant baby grow, but the missing word made me smile. Yes, you do need a baby when putting the baby to bed 😆

OP - we started with blankets as I always thought the sleeping bags didn't look cosy enough as their arms were out all the time (DD hated swaddling) but I'm so glad we switched - so easy and no risk of her wiggling underneath. We change what's underneath depending on the temperature- at the moment she's in a long sleeve vest with a 1 tog bag, we also have 2.5tog bags for when it's colder and she'll go in a baby grow or pj's underneath.
