Will I lose the house?? Energy bills

I’ve started a new thread as I’ve just realised my energy bills are likely to be over 4K next year. What happens if you just can’t pay it? Will I have to sell the house? Go bankrupt? I literally don’t know how to pay for this

Don't get this out of perspective. Plenty of people will be in the same situation, and the energy companies will have to put some sort of scheme in place.

And the banks won't want thousands and thousands of reclaimed houses.

Just do your best to keep your bills low, let your supplier know if you are struggling and see what they can offer you in help.

@MintJulia worried about the baby. I have the ability to pay 3k but anything more would be credit card. And I couldn’t keep up with that repayment

Get a lodger, do a bit of extra work if you can, be careful with energy usage. Go through all bills and see what can be cut.

Despite what the Tories claim, they have to have a pretty big intervention to help support people and not just pensioners, people of working age too. I can see a price fix coming. 45 homes will struggle to pay bills with the new October tariff. That’s a staggering amount of people in financial trouble. If they let them go up again in January and then again in April then nearly the whole country will be in fuel poverty. It would economic and political suicide to not intervene.

You didn't need a new thread, your original one was just fine.

You should prioritise paying rent or mortgage, over energy bills. See the advice from Stepchange:

Yes a lodger will really reduce your energy bills. 🙄🙄🙄
