What’s this 00s indie song please? Anyone know?

I have a song scratching the edges of my memory but I can’t recall enough of the lyrics to find. It’s a UK indie landfill type song, catchy enough but not memorable enough. Came out around 04-08 ish, and the lyrics include either sitting or dancing by a fire and is about the death of a school friend (gcse type age)

anyone know what this song might be? Keeps popping into my head every so often (usually when I listen to general fiasco - ever so shy, so both songs maybe came out around the same time). Band was maybe from the south coast / south west but that’s a real maybe

Reminds me of Best Friend by The Drums. Doesn't quite fit your description, but was released in 2010, the same year as Ever So Shy, and definitely heard it a lot on Radio 1 at the time.

Thanks for suggestions but no is not either of those, but is maybe more like 2010ish if that’s when ever so shy was released.

My first thought from the description was Local Boy in the Photograph too but that was much earlier. Late 90s, because it was around the same time that a friend of mine died and the song made me cry every time I heard it.
