My dd is four and about to start reception. I've got the uniform ready her name is in it all. I thought we were ready but now doubting myself do kids in reception need a pencil case? If so what goes in it??

thanks mumsnet for your knowledge as ever

None of mine needed anything for reception at all other than a book bag, uniform and a water bottle.

mine never have. Everything they need during the day is provided for them

At both primary schools my boys have been to school provide all the stationery.

Very unlikely for all of primary, definitely not for reception. They will be doing lots of learning through play and all resources will be given to them to use at school

No, just a book bag and a water bottle. My DD is only now needing a pencil case (she is about to enter Year 3). They should provide pens, pencils, crayons for the little ones.

I think Y3 is when they start having them in schools around here.

Much easier for the staff to have pots of pencils on the tables.

I hope your DD loves her new school.

In reception they'll probably ask you to provide a pair of wellies but other than that and a water bottle nothing else.
Our primary give the children book bags too so you don't need to worry about a pencil case
