Has anyone else got this bug?

I’ve been I’ll since Thursday with stomach flu. My insides are in agony with sever cramps, the foulest liquid poo (sorry), fever on and off, joint pain, headaches. Not sleeping well at all. Sometimes the pain takes my breath away.

I spoke to the dr and they said give it a couple more days to see if you improve. I don’t feel worse. But I don’t feel better and I am getting a bit scared now.

I have sent another GP request in so I’ll get the dr to see me today. But is anyone else had it? It’s only me out of the 5 of us that does. Not covid- I’ve tested a couple of times.

Any home remedies to alleviate the pain are welcomed!

Bloody hell. I am on day 5 of feeling like this.

In my experience, Bugs like norovirus tend to affect everyone in the household and tend to be very severe but recover quickly. It sounds more like food poisoning.

I've had horrendous food poisoning that lasted two weeks (pretty much in bed) and another couple to get fully right. It was so bad I had a seizure.

Anyway buscopan for the cramps (from the shelves in any supermarket), and omeprazole for the gastric upsets.

Some oral rehydration sachets, cans of sugary coke, cream crackers, pain killers

Agree with this. Whenever our house has a stomach virus it gets us all very quickly. Within 24 hours everyone has D&V and then it goes as quick as it came.

I had some f similar last year. Started with the fever which came on quickly and - sorry - but the diarrhoea which lasted about six weeks. It was constantly yellow-that was the defining feature! Negative covid and stool tests. I lost half a stone, and could only stomach crumpets in that time. Big tub of Sudocrem for sore bits after the loo and moist toilet roll helped. Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for the replies. Fox has asked for a stool sample so hopefully that will tell me more.

lime juice with sugar in fizzy water is helping.

My FIL had this recently, said it was the sickest he’d ever felt and it lasted a good week. I think it’s something called adenovirus which can cause this illness in adults and lasts longer than norovirus.

I think my DD (9) may have this. She is complaining of severe stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, temperature and a headache. Not Covid as testing negative.

Hope they test for cryptosporidium (a bug caught from dodgy water). I had this with exactly the same symptoms.

That’s a good idea. I told my FIL to go and get a stool sample tested but he wouldn’t as he said they wouldn’t give him an appointment for an upset stomach. I said I thought an 80 year old who can’t eat any food and is on the loo 10 times a day would probably get an appointment but he has to be basically in a coma before he will bother a Dr.

Day 6! Still alive and starting to feel better but only a tiny bit. Guts have calmed down and I think I’m over the worst of it!

Day 8 now and feeling really tired but also a little better. I have passed on my poop samples so should get them back in a few days.
No more fever and the poos are less frequent.
