Hi all

please can you help to find a book I read in primary school (between 93-98) from what I can remember is a boy “escaped” with the help of a guard and I remember a sentence “nothing but a cake of soap”

I can not remember much else; I have a feeling it was set in war time / Victorian time and I think it was more year 6 primary so 98 area; apparently it was well known in primary school but non of my friends can remember it.

There's a childrens book called "I am David" about a 12 year old boy who escapes from a concentration camp. Could that be the book you're thinking of?

Yep immediately thought I Am David too, and the soap rings a bell.
