Failed my driving test

I'm feeling so rubbish. I failed my driving test today. It's taken me two years to get to this point and I really felt I could do it and then I drive perfectly and failed on something really stupid.
Just tried to book another test and of course there aren't available so now I'm at the mercy of an app. I'm so fed up. Just want to pass!

it took me 3 attempts, as frustrating as it is that you failed it actually made me a better driver having the extra lessons until
i passed.

Yellowblanketofdoom · 01/09/2022 20:28

It took me three times. Its shit having to wait so long right now. But you'll get there.

Daisychainsandglitter · 01/09/2022 20:36

Thank you both for your kind words. Just having a moan!
Hopefully another test will come up soon!

The best drivers never pass first time. Fact.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 01/09/2022 20:39

What did you fail on? The system for booking tests is appalling now.

Daisychainsandglitter · 01/09/2022 20:45

I was turning into a major road into a minor and there was a pedestrian approaching the kerb ready to cross so I stopped whilst turning and gave them way.
I thought that was the new rule... anyway examiner said it was dangerous and could have caused someone to go into the back of me. I don't disagree I just thought that was one of the new rules. Perhaps I'd misunderstood.

I thought this was the new rule too! It was on my theory test practice tests too!
🤔 what has your instructor said?
someone I know has failed 7 times! And always manages to get a cancellation at his ten day point 🤞🏼

Daisychainsandglitter · 01/09/2022 20:52

Instructor said it's a grey area. I actually agree with the examiner that someone could gave gone into the back of me I just thought that's what I had to do seems like it's open to interpretation.
Have two apps on the go but is a very busy test centre in Birmingham so will have to cross my fingers and hope for a slot soon!

Luckymummytoone · 01/09/2022 20:55

I remember getting that question wrong on my app as I answered that they have a safe space to stand so shouldn’t give way 🙈
hope you manage to find another one soon 🤞🏼X

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 01/09/2022 20:57

My dds took 3 goes each. On the bright side, after forking out so much for more and more lessons, we thought that at least they were that much more competent when they finally took the wheel on their own.

Longdistance · 01/09/2022 21:00

I passed 7th time. I was 19 and determined to do it. Never had an accident and I’m a great driver, never had points. I’m now 46.
Keep with it. Don’t let it knock you.

piecesofham · 01/09/2022 21:05

I failed on emergency stop, to be fair I'd practised emergency stops with my instructor on the way there and he told me I wasn't doing it right but it's SO hard to do it without an actual emergency (I have done the odd one in 15 years of driving and it's very easy when there's a kid running out or a driver fleeing police shooting past!) did it again 12 days later and passed, no emergency stop required that time! It's worse to fail on minors from what I know of friends and family who have sat several tests. It's annoying but keep going!!

Sphinx2 · 01/09/2022 22:26

Don't worry about failing the first time - I did; I had missed a turning and panicked, then braked harshly and swerved the car without checking the mirrors.

I'm surprised you failed on that, though; I thought you had to give way for pedestrians. Did they say anything about not checking mirrors?

Good luck - it's awful when you fail the first time, but it is better on your second test. You know what's going to happen - just hope you don't get the same examiner again! Although I did and thought I would fail with him again, he passed me this time!

Novum · 01/09/2022 22:42

All the best people fail first time. That opinion is in no way influenced by the fact that I did, of course.

Lampzade · 02/09/2022 12:58

Don’t worry about it Op. You will find a test and pass .
Make sure you continue to practise with someone.

abblie · 02/09/2022 13:07

I failed 4 times passed on 5th 🤣 just keep going
