Anyone packed garden furniture back into store or is it too early?

Well mine is still out but I won't be back home until next week.

I expect a load of people are snuggling under a cosy blanket by now and preparing hot choc and stews in their boots, tights and scarves.

I normally find the equinox is the turning point weather wise, that’s when I stop regularly pegging the washing out although I have pegged out up until late Oct if weather has been warm (always needed finishing in tumble dryer though) Our garden furniture is table and chairs so that gets left out and we take trampoline netting down late October.

dementedpixie · 01/09/2022 18:29

It was lovely here today. Had my washing out and everything

Crinkle77 · 01/09/2022 20:35

It was 24 degrees here this avo in the NW so not quite yet. Saying that it is depressing looking out the window and it's almost dark. I just hate it 😢

I know! It seems to get darker earlier each year. It used to be towards the end of September.

Its nothing. Not summer and not autumn. This is how equinoxes are developing; grey cloud, low humidity, no rain. Just grey, dry wisp. The water is evaporating into space.

Loving the fresh cool air after such a long summer! But I’m also a fan of dark evenings!

Yellowblanketofdoom · 01/09/2022 20:51

My garden furniture lives in the garden all year. Yours must be posher than mine

TheChosenTwo · 01/09/2022 20:53

Ours stays out all year round!

HappyChloé2 · 01/09/2022 20:54

It doesn’t feel like that yet. We’re in Ibiza, and it’s still beautiful.

AnyFucker · 01/09/2022 20:54

Of course not. It has been far too hot to use my garden this summer so September and October I will be sitting out with my coffee (plus cardi/rug as required)

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 01/09/2022 21:11

We have wooden furniture which stays out all year round but we cover it all in that lovely green plastic that flaps about despite how careful we are.

We have a large gazebo which is put up in April , over the furniture, then gets taken down when the long range weather seems consistently grim. Any day now really.
It feels so sad when it comes down.

waterlego · 01/09/2022 21:24

Ours stays out. (And occasionally gets weighted down when the winter wind storms arrive!) As for whether summer is over- who knows? Depends where you live, I guess. I’m on the South coast and it’s still about 22-23 here in the day and warm at night. Have had a fantastic thunder storm this evening though, and loads of much-needed rain!

FindingMeno · 01/09/2022 21:56

I think its the beginning of the end.
Furniture will stay out though - nowhere else for it to go.

EcoCustard · 01/09/2022 22:03

We put ours away in October, still plenty of afternoons or mornings to enjoy in the sun even if you need a jumper.

DinosaurOfFire · 01/09/2022 22:14

Ours stays out- we will probably use it through October/ November with the fire pit and solar lights when friends come round, wrapped up in fleeces and blankets!

Awew · 01/09/2022 22:14

I still have my fingers crossed for some hot weather although had to put my electric heater on the other day for a little bit, so probably not for my area!

Anon50000 · 01/09/2022 22:16

It was lovely here today. I'm clinging on to summer for dear life.

While lighting the cinnamon candles and log burner.

JubileeTissues · 01/09/2022 22:24

Nope, next week.

FreezyFreezy · 01/09/2022 22:30

Our stuff is still out. We don't pack everything away until it's either too cold or too dark to sit outside for very long so usually by the end of September/mid October.

Surtsey · 01/09/2022 22:57

It's turned, definitely, but no need to rush and pack stuff away just yet. We often get some lovely autumn days.

Jackster11 · 01/09/2022 23:19

Thanks everyone, it’s been so hot this summer haven’t really used the garden furniture that much it’s been cooler and more comfy indoors😂 that said, maybe I’ll leave it out a bit longer for morning coffee with a fleece on!!
