One of my gas oven is unrepairable as parts no longer available. The range cooker is now only available with electric ovens (still gas hobs). I have never used electric ovens. Those who have changed to electric how have you found it? Thanks

My Yorkshire puddings weren’t as good at all. I’d use gas again if I could but they don’t seem to make them as much now.

Our range cooker has a gas and electric oven in it. We always used the electric oven by choice up until the increase in the energy prices. We are now switching to using the gas oven; I don't like it as much as I have found that the electric oven cooks much quicker but the gas oven is significantly cheaper to run over all.

Given the current energy prices I'd definitely try and stick with gas if you can.

We changed from a gas cooker to an electric oven and gas hob when we had our kitchen done two years ago. It's okay, but it is a fan oven, and you don't get the flexibility of a range of temperatures between the top and bottom like you do with gas, so I do miss that really. It has thrown my timings out a lot, especially for things like roast dinners when you have several things cooking at once. Having spent 40+ years with a gas cooker, I'm still not used to electric, even after 2 years. I wouldn't want anything other than a gas hob.

I'd stick with gas purely because of the cost to run these days.

Check if your wiring to the oven works for electric. Mine would have to be rewired.

I've just changed from gas oven to electric due to new kitchen

I much prefer electric, for me it cooks much better and more evenly.

I do like a gas hob though, especially if there is ever a power cut, at least I could still boil water for drinks and cook something to eat.

Thanks for this. Yes I installed wiring for a cooker in case many years ago so no issue with the change to electric but I absolutely love my Falcon cooker but they dont make it with gas ovens anymore and since Rangemaster took over they dont supply the parts, presumably they want everyone to buy new. Such an environmental waste as it is a very easy fix if there was a part.

Moved from a house with gas to no gas in the kitchen & too awkward/expensive to install.

I HATE cooking with electricity. The temperature changes just aren’t as quick to react as gas is . Also to heat an electric fan oven, the element is constantly kicking in, gas stays a more consistent temperature imo.

Get yourself a little camping gas stove and some small gas canisters. You can till have your brews and cook.
