Probably the stupidest thing to be asked on here today. Anyone had a smart meter fitted recently??

booked a smart meter fitting for tomorrow.

energy supplier hasn't given much info other than a time slot.

is it an easy job?? A quick job? How does it work??

electric Meter and box is in kitchen, gas meter is outside!

do they turn electric supply off for long? I have an autistic DS who can't cope without the internet for too long 😅

apologies for daft question.

I have a son with autism and I was worried about the same thing 😁 It took about an hour for both meters to be changed and he only needed the tv and wifi turned off for about 20 mins… odd as I thought he’d have to turn everything off but nope! I do think all houses are different though so what happened for us might be different for you.

the internet goes off and everyone goes mad here, especially DS and no great phone signal coverage either so totally cut off. We had 3 days of no internet a while ago and it was hell!!

thank you! Dp is off work tomorrow so one of us may just take the kids out just in case. Nothing seems to turn out a simple job in this house either!

Was told it could take up to 3 hours,it took one,was told by company (octopus) if anyone was WFH, they could put a gizmo on to keep the WiFi....we weren't bothered about that

We had a Smart Meter fitted in February, it took just over an hour. The electricity was off for less than 10 minutes.

Hope your Smart Meter fitting goes well.
