DH has apparently had a sore knee for a couple of weeks but it wasn't bothering him too much so he didn't say anything, he hasn't dome anything which might have caused a specific injury. He's now back at work after some time off and it's very quickly got worse (he cycles to and from work and then is on his feet most of the day). One knee is now visibly swollen, no redness though, and he is limping quite significantly. He has some pain in the back of the calf but feels that the main issue is the knee and the calf pain is secondary to that.
The natural thing to do would be take some time off work to rest it but that really needs to be an absolute last resort as he is on thin ice for sickness absence and going off sick would probably land him with a disciplinary, not to mention the huge damage to his already fragile mental health. So the question is, what can we do to help him? From a quick Google I feel like bursitis could be a possible diagnosis and if so then no particular treatment is required apart from anti-inflammtories and pain relief (he is taking naproxen and co-codamol) and rest (he's resting it when home and trying to alternate between sitting and standing at work). Has anyone got experience with bursitis? Does this seem likely and have you got any tips for dealing with it?
