Has anyone done any of the trails on the above website and are they worth the money?

Bonus point for Ilkley specifically 😊

I'm talking DSC to Ilkley on Friday and was looking for something to pique their interest

We did loads when my two were younger.
We all loved them. It's a great way to look around an area, even if you think you know it well.
Clues are good for adults too, they're not that easy for children to always find on their own.
The directions are clear to find your way around.
I think they're great value for money.

MintyFinty · 31/08/2022 20:17

Love them, I've done several of towns local to me including my home town and found out lots of little places and points of interest we've totally missed. Recommended and I often buy for gifts.

Frankie473 · 31/08/2022 20:17

We love them! Sometimes take longer than they say so usually plan for lunch In middle . Great fun

Hugasauras · 31/08/2022 20:19

Yes! DH and I did one and thought it was great fun

TakeMeToYourLiar · 31/08/2022 20:19

Haven’t done ilklwy but have done 4 and enjoyed them. They always take longer for us but the kids are small

NannyR · 31/08/2022 20:21

We did the Saltaire one last year and I thought it was great, my nieces (10+7) loved it.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 31/08/2022 20:30

Yes, just did the Horsham one. It was really good, however I'd have massively struggled if I wasn't with people who knew the area.

Hellocatshome · 31/08/2022 20:33

We did the Durham one, it was worth the money as it basically got passed around the office. I thinknif we didn't already have a but of a clue about the area we may have got lost but it certainly kept the kids more interested than just a normal walk.

WeCanBeHappyUnderground · 31/08/2022 20:35

Yes we've done one and are planning another - great fun.

deflatedbirthday · 31/08/2022 20:41

Excellent news! I didn't want to waste a tenner on it being rubbish. Chuffed 😊 can't wait now!

They're such a great way to see bits of an new area that you'd otherwise miss - hope you have fun!

dicdicnurse · 31/08/2022 20:51

We love them! Have done a few around our area plus one whilst on a weekend away.
Planning to do our first drive/walk trail this weekend.

Purplepepsi · 31/08/2022 21:23

Really fun. Also we love the OS secret stories app which is a walk with different things to find and do on and at each point there is a bit to read out. Mostly free a few we paid for, and I think more in the South but we've done some lovely ones.

deflatedbirthday · 31/08/2022 21:45

@Purplepepsi this looks amazing thank you!! I've got them into geo cashing. Anything to get them outdoors and interested really. We've just been out for a 'quick' walk when I got home from work.... two hours later we got back with a load of blackberries to make crumble tomorrow.

They are really good. If you enjoy them then I would also try geocaching - which can be done for free, or as premium members for I think £35 a year.

Adventure labs are a bit like mini Treasure Trails. Some geocahces are great for kids as they can swap little treasures in them.

deflatedbirthday · 31/08/2022 21:51

Geocaching not geo cashing obviously.... I'm very tired from my walk 😂

NuffSaidSam · 31/08/2022 21:52

They're great!

But they do alway take much longer than they say (or maybe we're just really slow!) so I would factor in plenty of time and a rest stop.

Also, some are circular and some are not so bear that in mind for time/parking etc.

Bilingualspingual · 31/08/2022 21:53

We’ve done a couple of London ones and absolutely loved them.

sanityisamyth · 31/08/2022 21:58

Haven't done that one, but done a fair few others. Love them!! My DS (8) loves doing them too!!

theveg · 31/08/2022 22:15

We've done loads, we love them.
