Re-marks for Maths GCSE

My ds has missed put on a 9 by 1 Mark and he has always managed 9s with past papers . We were going to pay for a review and possible re-mark but does that mean we have to pay for all 3 papers ?

It is about £40 a paper which seems an awful lot!!

And advice appreciated

You need to ask the school as it will vary by board and by what kind of remark is done I think.

Thank you , I have emailed the school so will wait and see.

Best thing to do is ask to view his papers, which for some boards you can do it for free, and go through it with the marks' scheme. If you can find where a mark could be picked up then put that paper in for remark. You may find his teacher happy to run an eye over it.

If it does get changed then you don't have to pay, but also that potentially saves you from the situation where you find he's gone up by 1 mark on paper 2 but down by 2 on paper 3...

That's annoying. He needs to request access for scripts. The school will have sent him an email with instructions. My DS has done this for 3 exams he's annoyed about

They expect him to to this not the parents

We have requested the papers for our borderliners, will review ourselves and put in any papers that look like they might go up (Maths usually has pretty tight marking, but getting the papers is free, so worth a look at least). That is AQA. If going straight to review, it's best to go paper by paper individually, not all papers together, to reduce the risk of gaining in one but losing in another.

Thank you all

I have spoken to his teacher and she has advised me to pay for all 3 papers.

Joy!

Annoying but hopefully worth it. I know you get the money back if they do go up but I assume that will only be for the one paper. Very frustrating. This is not something we can really afford but will find the money for.
