Hi, I've also posted this in the Work topic - but might get more traffix here ..

My daughter who is very artistic is trying to become a tattoo artist. She is building a portfolio of drawings to take around and has savings to be an apprentice (starting by sweeping up, refilling inks getting coffee, etc) for a year without earning anything or very little but being helped to learn how to tattoo. She draws mainly gaming images but can draw pretty much anything and is also drawing flash too. Are there any tips you can give me to help her as she goes around to ask for an apprenticeship please?

Call or pop in her local tattooist and ask.
think a year of her volunteering to make tea etc is too long, a month or so seems better unless she’s going to be paid but again the tattooist she speaks too should help her

I am friends with a tattooist. In some towns there is a lot of studios and some people are struggling for bookings but I guess that depends on where you are.my friend is an excellent artist but is not getting the work right now

Hi Frenchlady14,
It's important to keep in mind that competition can be high for tattoo artist positions in your local area. And it can take some time and effort to find the right opportunity.
But ask to your daughter to focus on her skills, building her portfolio, networking, and being persistent in job search. Through this ways your daughter can increase chances of finding a job as a tattoo artist.

Also, ask to her to make online presence like creating a website on tattoo niche and instagram or facebook profile to showcase her work and also to connect with potential clients and employers.
