If anyone remembers this podcast, they found Chris Dawson guilty today! Only forty years late, but some justice for his wife's family at last.

I was looking for a thread on this. I am shocked but delighted. Smug monster. RIP Lynette.

I was both spellbound and appalled by the podcast. Thank goodness he's finally been found guilty.

Justice for her family at last. I listened to the podcast a couple of years ago and followed the updates.

Took a long time and a lot of hard work from Hedley Thomas and his team working on the Podcast to make this happen finally. Well done to them all for keeping this in the public eye until justice could be done.

Oh thank you for this! I'm so glad to hear this. Such a disgrace it's taken a podcast and this long for justice to be served! I grew up not far from where this happened but I wasn't born till 1984 and live in UK now. Just so pleased for her family.

I only listened to the Teacher’s Trial podcast so more or less in real time with the trial. I wasn’t sure it would be quite enough to convict him but am very glad it was. The judge was very clear that all the lies and stories he told were preposterous. It’s such a sad sad story though.

The next few Teacher’s trial episodes will cover the judgment in detail.

I forgot the verdict was coming out today until I was on Spotify and saw the latest episode and clocked the date- immediately googled and then shouted “yes!” so loud DH came in to check on me.

The worst thing he did for himself was fabricate the phone calls from Lynette. If he’d said “I came home and she’d just upped and left, never heard from her again”, there would have been a plausible case to say she’d more likely harmed herself as the result of depression due to the end of her marriage or possibly come to grief by someone else’s hand. The “run away to have time to think” story never rang true, given she took nothing with her and he was the only person she ever made contact with. It was obviously a story concocted to take the heat off him in those early days, but it backfired big time.

I thought the podcast could have done more to underline how JC was a victim too. She was a child who was groomed by Chris Dawson (and possibly his brother), he stole the best years of her life from her and plunged her into mothering his two kids when she should have been out enjoying her late teens and twenties. If you’ve ever seen photos of her from that time, she really did look like the child she was. Combined with her vulnerable home life, it makes the whole thing even more gross. And the fact he kept her around his DDs when she clearly didn’t have any affection or care for them…shows you where his priorities lay.

I hope he eventually owns up to it and reveals what he did with Lynette’s remains, but given his daughters are apparently supporting him I doubt he’ll ever willingly admit to them what he did.

I listened to the Teacher's Pet podcast a few years ago. Shocking that it took so long to uncover the truth and hope he spends the rest of his life in jail.

But it did buy him 40 years, so it worked from his perspective.

Too many people believed him that these phone calls were received.
