Help with 12 yr old travel in London

I don't know if it's brain fog from the menopause but for the life of me I can't work out what ticket my 12 year old needs to travel in London. I just seen to go around in circles. We don't live in London and I will not have time to get an oyster card of any discription sent to me. You used to be able to just buy travel cards at stations - can you still? We'll be staying at Heathrow airport. I have a 10 year old but from what I can work out she just travels free with no ticket. Thanks in advance!

When you arrive, you can buy an Oyster card at a tube station.

Ask for help from a member of staff- they will also apply a young visitor discount to it.
Staff are great and very helpful. If you tell them how long you are staying, they will be able to advise on how much to put on the card to last your entire visit. And if you do need to top up- again, grab a member of staff in the ticket machine area and they will help again with a discount.

Oyster card will cost £5 but you can keep it and reuse on future visits..

If it's a one off visit then staff will advise on the most appropriate ticket for a youngster.
