Been referred to physio this week. Wondering if anyone has recent experience of waiting times.

Obvious, unless you work in my areas trust, you won't have precise info, just looking for general idea.

Refered beginning of May, my appointment is end of September. This is for community based physio, I was told they'll assess me and its likely they'll refer me for xrays and probably consultant opinion.

Our community based physio “diagnoses” over the phone and then sends a sheet of exercises!

If you are registered where I work then about ten days

Thanks everyone!

Hoping I get to see someone in person, suspected trapped nerve since end of June. Was in ridiculous pain until being put on strong painkillers.

I'm in the same boat. Self referred to physio last week and awaiting first contact. Been told to expect a call by Thursday this week when I called to ask about time scales.

My neighbour (who's an NHS physio) believes it's a damaged meniscus so I'm hoping it's not too long a wait because trying to look after a toddler when I can hardly walk isn't much fun.

I did an online self referral, with pregnancy related pelvic pain. I assumed I wouldn’t get seen until we’ll after the baby was born, but I had an appointment within 2 weeks.

I don’t know if it was prioritised as it was pregnancy related, but I was very impressed.

My doc referred me in August last year, after my Covid jab had gone in the wrong part of my arm causing burstitis, I was seen within a week

StillRunningWithScissors · 29/08/2022 22:32

Oh, some of these sound encouraging. Wish my area had self referral.

@Milkand2sugarsplease hope you get seen and sorted soon.

Just an update, went on to my GP surgery site (where you can use a form to track your referral).

Next day, I had a phone call saying my referral had come through, and there were cancellations, meaning I have my first appointment today!

Whew.

Hope everyone else has a quick recovery.
