30 hours childcare

Hi
We are dure to start using the 30hrs funded childcare next month, and i am just trying to figure out in advance what we will need to pay going forward. Unfortunately our nursery doesnt offer the hours stretched over the year, so our invoices will differ most months as our dd attends full time.

Can anyone confirm at what rate the 30hrs are calculated at? I can't imagine it is just at whatever rate the nursery is charging as some will be extortionate (and think i have heard that some nurseries are actually loosing money through this?)! Is there a capped rate or something? Does it depend on area?

Many thanks

You need to ask your nursery for their fee sheet, every nursery does it differently. Some limit how many funded hours you can use per day for example, or charge extras for food

There is a set level of funding the nursery receives per hour. What the nursery deducts off your bill is pretty much up to them so you need to ask them.

Thanks for the responses. I was hoping there was a standard amount that it was calculated on, but sounds like it's not that simple.
I have been in touch with the nursery and they didn't seem very clear on the process, so thought I would see if I could figure out from other sources what I think our bills should be and then see if it roughly matches what we actually get invoiced.

Our nursery does it all for us, thankfully(!), but they calculate what they'll get and straight line it over the year. DD is in 3 days a week and that's £195/month of which we get a 20% discount through the childcare account.

Nursery gets a set amount from the government but isn't enough. A local nursery to me is only £10 a day cheaper with the 15 hours funding (£60 a day over £70) They haven't told me what the 30 hour daily fee is yet and you have to do a minimum of 4 days to get the 30 hours funding.

They can charge what they like and all nurseries are different.

No set amount. Our discount as much as we thought. The daily rate with 6 hours applied is still £50 plus a day. You really need to find out how your nursery applies the funded hours and the charges.
