Pregnant and constipated

Hi there!
Not something I usually talk about, I don’t do toilet talk, but hey. Suppose all dignity goes with pregnancy and childbirth 😂
Does anyone have any advice, please. I’m currently 23 weeks pregnant and since day 1 of being pregnant I’ve been constipated! It’s actually what made me think to test 😂
early on in the pregnancy it wasn’t so much of an issue, I could go two weeks before a small movement. Never got stomach ache. So I just ignored it.

At around 20 weeks I started to struggle. I go 5/7 days then feel heavy and full and get stomach pain after eating. I cannot physically go without taking medication. But I’ve tried all sorts and it’s getting me down now.

Fybol gel- helps a tiny bit, not much. But I can’t stomach the texture
regular senna tablets - do nothing
lactullse - took daily for over three weeks and nothing
Dulcolax/senacot - painful stomach ache small movement

Does anyone have any suggestions before I cal my gp? Also before anyone recommends I can’t stomach the taste of dried fruits so prunes and juice aren’t an option. Sorry for the long post. Thanks

My son's Movicol (prescribed by GP, not sure if it's available over the counter) has helped me with pregnancy constipation!

Movicol will get you unblocked. Raising feet up helps too. Then a daily dose of lactulose will help keep things moving.

I swore by Boots glycerine suppositories when I was pregnant because both times I got horribly constipated. They work so well and so quickly to clear the blockage- immediate relief and then you can work on what you eat etc. I found that unless I used them, I either just backed up more or got overspill which was worse!

Lactulose is the only thing that worked for me! I was incredibly sick and could not go the entire pregnancy despite downing prune juice, water, herbal teas, and eating fibre foods. My body just completely stopped. It was horrible.

Fybogel did nothing. Laxido helped for a bit, but it tasted awful and eventually stopped working. Then I took magnesium citrate which worked a little but then also stopped. I begged for lactulose and it was a lifesaver. Worked until the end of pregnancy and postpartum.

If you are so desperate, beg your doctor for lactulose - don't except anything else!!
