When consequences backfire (Lighthearted)

8yo DC made a huge mess in the living room and bathroom this morning, so gave them a choice “Either clean up or miss our day out later in the week” (Just me and them so no-one else misses out) they reluctantly started cleaning.

Then about half an hour later proudly announces “I loved cleaning up the bathroom I’m going to make it a mess everyday” 🙄

Send help or wine. They’re not back at school until 8th September so it’s going to be a long few days…

Of course it’s only delibrate mess they cleaned up, tidying up toys or their room is still met with every reason why they can’t do it 🤔

Completely lighthearted unless anyone didn’t get it.

Anyone elses DC the same? Make a mess to then get to clean it up?
