Car parked outside my house...

A parking thread!!!! No, not really.

There is a car parked outside my house and it has been there for ages. There is a weed about a foot high growing through one of the wheels so it's definitely been there all summer if not longer.

I'm not a believer in the space outside my house being mine as the road has a lot of residents and the lady next door has a baby so usually I park up the road but this one is annoying me now!

I looked it up on the DVLA website and the tax expires on 1st September so obviously it's legally entitled to be there until that date. Is there anything I can do about it after 1st Sept?

@DownNative Thabks for that, I must tell the legal department at work that you think we aren’t doing it properly.

@MyCatsSlave That's not what I understood either? When you say 'work' do you mean DVLA/Police? There was a change/clarification of the law a few years ago to make this clear? DVLA certainly will clamp/remove untaxed or uninsured cars that are parked on the roads.

As from the Gov website, and from when the law was changed.

A vehicle does not need to be insured or have a valid MOT to be parked on the highway, they are just needed to drive on the highway.

Totally incorrect

JubileeTissues · 30/08/2022 13:41

You need insurance if you're going to park on the road

Trim the weed. Might as well make it look presentable.

PMSL at this suggestion.

Not quite, I'd imagine, what the OP had in mind 😆

It's YOU who is incorrect here in advising the OP a car can be left parked on the road uninsured.

In 2011, the Continuous Insurance Enforcement (CIE) legislation came into effect.

No vehicle can be parked on the road without insurance.

See this insurance company as well:

Just accept your advice was out of date and incorrect. 🤷‍♂️
