School shoes for wide feet

My son is going into year 9, has size 9 feet but they are extremely wide.
He has to wear 'proper' shoes (ie nothing that looks like a trainer) but I'm really struggling. We've tried on multiple styles from Clarks and Next so far this year, including wide fitting, and he can barely get his feet in. We used to buy from Treads but they seem to have gone out of business.

Does anyone have any good ideas?

Startrite- we use them all the time for my son who has huge feet, never any issues good quality amd the last pair lasted ages.
The issue we have are football boots, cannot find any that aren't really slim!

There is a website/shop called “Wide Fit Shoes” - lots of brands available. Not always the cheapest but it has options. We have started using it as DS1 has now outgrown the largest size available from Startrite, which have been our go to for years.

Thank you for the replies! I didn't realise Start Rite went so large so will definitely take a look at them.

I got my Yr11 from M&S wide fit this year, I'm glad it's his last year of school shoes!

Look on happy little soles. Detailed descriptions on different shoe brands for different foot shapes and sizes. Free returns too so you can buy a selection and choose the best ones.
