They have to cover themselves

chillipenguin · 28/08/2022 22:25

How would you reword it?

Tinkerblonde1 · 28/08/2022 22:32

It's front loaded and at first I also thought is it only allowing people with additional needs to use it.

‘This vacuum cleaner should not be used by…….unless supervised…..’
would do it!

Reword: IF somebody with reduced ability etc. will be operating this vacuum cleaner, please ensure...

orbitalcrisis · 28/08/2022 23:15

@watcherintherye why supervise anyone that is fully aware of how to use it and any dangers it presents?

It was probably written by someone who's first language isn't English, possibly using Google translate, in the country where it was made.

Of course, manufacturers could ask their distributors in the UK or wherever to make sure the instructions make sense in the end country's language but it's probably not done due to cost, or not seeing the need to do so.

I have a classic soup book which says 'add a couple of slugs...' and you have to turn the page to get to 'of crème fraîche'. I always have a small jolt of shock when I read it after a while.
