Does anyone have a soup maker? Is it worth it? And what are your favourite home made soups? I'm got ingredients for carrot and coriander and creamy cauliflower with blue cheese.

Not worth the faff imo. A pot and a cheap stick hand blender

clpsmum · 28/08/2022 14:25

I absolutely love mine

It’s mumsnet we habitually revisit the same topics at least daily, so let’s not be snippy
daily and hourly there is a my dh is a mean spirited git, my neighbour is noisy when WFH, my friend wedding will use 4day AL cost £9k and it’s child free
so honestly don’t get all we done that already about soup, makes you look petty

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 28/08/2022 14:53

The pp was being helpful by referring the OP to a fairly long thread on this very subject. You are the snippy one.

Zone2NorthLondon · 28/08/2022 14:55

If I misread it,then yes I am indeed inadvertently being snippy. I will snip no more

Zone2NorthLondon · 28/08/2022 14:56

@SillyBub i apologise for being snippy

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 28/08/2022 15:13

Don't worry about being snippety @Zone2NorthLondon we've all felt like that at the best of times.

I put ingredients and stock and seasoning in a pan and use a stick blender.

I really don't want or need another gadget to clutter my worktop. If I put it in the cupboard, I'll not use it as much ( like the toasted sandwich maker, pasta maker, slow cooker etc. )

@Zone2NorthLondon There's no need to apologise but I appreciate it anyway!

I was genuinely trying to be helpful as I actually ended up posting (pointlessly) on the thread I linked so thought you might get some answers such as the ones I have added below which was my sole unhelpful contribution to that thread 🤣

Woah woah woah, we could actually fall out for real now. Gazpacho? 🤮. I love soup, but for the love of all things liquidised, make it hot.

PeacockMansion · 28/08/2022 15:25

Thank you - I'm reading the previous post also. I have a stick blender - so will carry on until I make a final decision. With Autumn drawing nearer and a need to lose weight - a diet of delicious soups and casseroles (I have a slow cooker) seemed like an option to help me.
Thanks all 💐

Honestly chilled soup in the heatwave with croutons it was just the trick in heatwave

Moon22 · 28/08/2022 15:40

Yes yes yes! Totally worth it! Best kitchen item I own. Use it all the time. Finish a long shift... chuck my ingredients in... 21 mins later I have dinner and also lunch for the next day.
I will say, probably wouldn't suit if you are wanting a big pot for a big family. Mine makes 4 portions, which I tend to have as 3 bigger portions.
Buy one!!!
Mine is the Tefal model- I think it was about £60.

How do you clean a soup maker can it go in dishwasher

Thank you - I think it'll be good and healthy and fairly straightforward to ensure a meal after a long day.

Mine has a self cleaning option. You push a button them just wipe it down!

Yes if you want to kill it 😳
They have a clean function. Put water in, switch on clean function. Empty, rinse, dry.
Love mine.
But soup should never, ever be served chilled. That’s made me shudder just typing it.
