Just seen this story breaking on Twitter. Absolutely love Arcade Fire and have tickets to go and see them next month. They’ll be going in the bin then. Aaaaargh what is wrong with people??!! 😫

Yep. I’m gutted too.

I can’t believe I was dumb enough for it to never cross my mind that he could be ‘like that’. They are my absolute favourite band.

These days, it seems like the world is endlessly disappointing.

EmmaH2022 · 28/08/2022 01:29

Oh no
you end up having to separate the art from the artist or you'd have no one

Some of Ryan Adams work has been a soundtrack to key parts of my life...didn't listen to him for a while.

not a huge fan of Arcade Fire but I do really rate them.

SequinsandStilettos · 28/08/2022 04:24

Oof. That Pitchfork article is damning (good journalism though) and Win's reactions are a bloody cliche. He allegedly treated the four women as disposable/acted as a sex pest. He then maligns them as groupies/crazy.
Add that to that the usual heal myself/I can be better mantra. It's lile a goddamn bingo card.
Failing to see an age gap as problematic and not understanding that manipulating those who look up to you is exploitative...not buying it. Then mentioning his wife's miscarriage for context. Spare me.

ShirleyJackson · 02/09/2022 09:08

Yeah, the miscarriage bit was the nail in the coffin for me.

Twat.

SequinsandStilettos · 03/09/2022 10:26

Oh, now that is interesting. There was a thread on whether to still attend or not.
I never thought how the support, Feist, may be struggling with the same concerns.

spoooooky · 04/09/2022 08:40

Ugh I'm meant be seeing them thurs. I am normally capable of separating the artist from the music but it feels a bit grim to go along and clap and woo him, it has put a black cloud over it, poor Regine.

ipswichwitch · 04/09/2022 08:53

From the article i read, it seems Feist has left the tour. Sad thing is, I’m no longer shocked by these revelations. I’m at the stage of “oh look, it’s another twat to add to the list”.

CassTheFox · 04/09/2022 09:20

Feist leaving the tour is what has started giving this story some headlines this week, her statement is bold and principled but it’s gutting that a woman is now losing income because of a man’s actions. I’ve seen lots of the usual “innocent until proven guilty”comments about Arcade Fire, but even by his own admission, Win Butler responded to his wife’s miscarriage by having a string of affairs with young fans of the band, and is now trying to explain that behaviour is because of mental health problems and alcoholism. You don’t need a guilty conviction to find that exploitative and deplorable. I have worked in the music industry for over 20 years. I know how easy it is for singers like him to abuse power over young fans in this way. He can fuck off with his excuses.

He’s gone from up there to just being a fucking creep. One of the girls was 18, so gross. Even if it was consensual it’s just so rank of him. He’s pushing 40, what is wrong with him. I’ll be going to Berlin still but will just throw the tickets away now. Feels way too gross to be near. Plus I was super excited for Feist.
