Dd (27) has just shown me a couple of clips of pingu (we are having a rip roaring Saturday night).

Omg - how did I never realise how funny this was when my dc were little?! It’s made me cry laughing. Late to the party as ever!

I love pingu! Though how they got away with pretending this was a kids cartoon I'm not sure Pingu regularly gets absolutely pissed and can be quite nasty

Pingu is about 30 years old. How have you never noticed how funny it is?!

I'm sure there are some older ones where he swears! Look for the one with the seagull, it's an absolute classic!

It must have been watched by dc who had parents like me - I had no clue it was so funny, just though it was an innocuous run-of-the-mill kids animated programme!

@Mariokartedoff I had 4 dc under 5 at one point - my only excuse is that I must’ve been too tired/harassed to realise how funny it was!

Pingu is horrifying. His mouth and limbs regularly become independent from the rest of him. And his movements are…..just creepy. Darts around so quickly. I wouldn’t be surprised if we read somewhere that Pingu was a serial killer

I love Pingu! Watched it as a child and then watched it with my own. DS (12) and I have pingu sessions together. It’s one thing we can still laugh about together. It’s timeless.

Pingu is genius, hilarious and quite trippy (in the vein of Magic Roundabout/Dougal and the Blue Cat...)

Introduced granddaughter to Pingu recently and she's obsessed with it, but sadly because it's an age now can't seem to find many Pingu-related toys etc

DS was obsessed with Pingu, but we had to stop him watching it because when he was annoyed, he would shout at us with a cheeky Pingu noise - wah-wah - and stamp his feet like Pingu. A little too much attitude!!! As an adult, he got a grumpy Pingu tattoo on his leg!!!

When DS was little Ben and Holly was big, I adored nanny plum 😂 she's got a smart mouth on her and when she tells the wise old elf that the size of the wand doesn't matter, just how you use it" I genuinely snorted in to my tea 😂 and the mayor is Boris Johnson in cartoon elf fairy form lol

I think Carl Bonomi who voiced Pingu died quite recently I remember seeing it on the news.

Ben and Holly was hilarious. I missed that wand thing, that's so cheeky!

Pingu was fab, I loved it more than my DC did.

I've recently introduced DD to Pingu. She's a bit meh about him but I love watching it - it's definitely a cartoon for the adults. There's a few seasons on Prime if you're looking for some nostalgia
