No smear appointments at GP

Got a annual reminder for smear test as HPV positive four weeks ago. There are no appointments available. The reason were that they are in high demand and all current clinics are booked. The nurses haven't scheduled the next clinic . And until they do and tell the admin team then it is not possible to book any smear test.

They will call me when the next clinic is schedule. So basically I'm on a waiting list. They haven't called me. I can't keep calling as the phone queue are very long 30-40 mins.

What on earth can I do?

You were HPV positive 4 weeks ago? Aren't you due another smear in 11 months then?

Are there any well woman clinics, access clinics or GU clinics in your area that also provide cervical screening services?

As PP said, check out local GUM clinics to see if they offer it. Or self-screen:

In the meantime, stay on waiting list. As a self-screen won't be recorded in your GP notes, not sure how GUM clinics process them.

Great idea I'd not though of that. I'll do a self HPV screen. Thank you. hopefully I've fought it off now.
