How many hours do you get to airport before flight?

We are flying from Newcastle Airport on Monday
Our flight to Gran Canaria departs at 10.45 Am
We are staying at the doubletree which is a 2 min walk to terminal

What time do you think we should get there ?

Id go for 08:30am.

When we do this we check in the night before, have a leisurely breakfast in the hotel and then go to the airport for 2 hours before. But ask the airport workers when you check in because they have a good sense for how long security lines tend to be. We've just flown and we paid to go through security quicker (as we have two young DC and didn't want hours in a queue)
