Kids old clothes stored in loft - do you wash?

I've 4 kids and have always stored hand me down clothes in plastic boxes in the loft. They're always clean and dry before I store them. The loft is dry.

I'm busy today bringing autumn clothes down from the loft to see what fits who. Tons and tons of clothes that I've sat aside to wash now they're down from the loft. A habit I've had since they babies and I've just thought do I really need to wash them now the kids are older, can I just pop them in their wardrobes, or does that make me a lazy sod 🤣🤣. What do others do?

How do they smell? I’d feel twitchy about them wearing without washing but agree it would be overkill to wash them if they smell and look fine.

If they don't smell musty and they have been in sealed bags or boxes, no I wouldn't wash them.

I recently got some baby clothes out and they smelt a bit off, just slightly damp, so I've chucked them all through a quick cycle. I also washed a load of shoes before I donated them to charity.

Most of them smell absolutely fine. A few bits are musty which I will wash. I just can't get past not washing them but think that might be OTT..or perhaps just lazy ;)
