Good morning all! What's everyone up to today?

I've had a lie in & enjoyed my first cuppa in silence, watching the wood pigeons in my garden.

There's some washing to be done, and a few pots to wash, plus the floors need hoovering upstairs and mopping downstairs.

We went to Meadowhall yesterday, looking for school shoes for dd1 still so will probably skip going to the market today & just nip to Asda tomorrow for a top up of fresh fruit and salad.

I think the girls will probably spend the day watching Gilmore Girls together. I have some painting to finish for when we go back to school (updating/repairing dolls house furniture), and am half way through crocheting a Minecraft creeper for dd2 to send to her friend in the Netherlands.

We're having chicken for tea, with tornado potatoes (spiral spuds 🤣) and salad. Probably the last of last week's fruit with ice cream for desert 😋

Just back from walking the dog. Lovely dappled shade in the woods. She’s now snoozing, wish I could.

I need to get new school shoes for ds but he refused to go into town 🙄

I like the sound of tornado potatoes! I think we need to see a picture of the crochet, that’s sweet of your dd to send to her friend in the Netherlands. My dc are half Dutch, miss the flatlands 🥹

@IpanemaChic photo attached - it's just a flat creeper face so it's easier to post. It's only half done at the moment. They met during lockdown & message every day without fail even if they don't get chance to play Minecraft; it's quite sweet. Dd's taken up simple origami too so is going to send a couple of little pieces she's made.

I seem to have let the morning go lolling about.. although did have some nice pancakes and fruit.

So now I am going to get OFF the sofa and into the shower, do a bit of de-cluttering (thanks MN for the Organising for the Rest of Us rec), sign up for some autumn yoga classes and coaching and then head to the park with a book..

We have everything done for back to school so that is a relief and we went out yesterday evening to m&s cafe and nosey in Asda.

This morning I pulled out dc beds .. ughh. 59 million particles of dust and another million teddies. Have a carrier bag full for charity (ones they won not special ones) and sorted their bookcase.

Chicken fajitas for lunch 😋 so least that will be the main meal sorted. Quiet evenings then.

Some people have some ace days planned out.

Feeling a touch under the weather today so DDs are between their tablets and playroom while I read The Attic Child from the library- 200 pages so far today lol 😆. DH just home from shift. Takeaway and Stranger Things later on.

Yesterday I spent all day in Mkt Harborough with my best friend while girls spent the day with my mum. DH was on strike so tidied the house and forgot to feed himself anything other than angel cake lol.

Have my eldest DD arriving tonight for a two week holiday. He boyfriend arrives tomorrow for a week. Have cleaned the whole house. Burgers for dinner, then off to the airport to collect her. Flight radar already says it will be over 2 hours late departing. 🙄

Enjoying Echoes on Netflix before pulling out the reclining chair for a nice sit in the garden along with a bit of reading. A toss up between rereading Women who run with the Wolves or rereading Lady Chatterley's Lover!

Its nice weather so I should go out, and I will for a walk later, but right now I'm not feeling it. Trying to figure out our meal plan for the next week so I can make a shopping list for tomorrow.
DD has been to circus school, watched some tv with me, now is reading. DS just had his "nap" and now watching annoying youtube videos. OH is playing guitar in the basement.
I think I'll finish my cup of tea, go for a walk in the forest to reset my brain that is fed up, then fetch some firewood in (we've switched off our electric boiler so we can heat our hot water with wood now to reduce our electric bills - we got the wood for free from a kind relative)

I had planned a lazy day after getting all the cleaning and washing done yesterday.
Dh returning late from a work trip.
All good.
EXCEPT dh came up at 12.45am to tell me there was a water leak downstairs.
We had a new washing machine installed 2.5 months ago by AO.
They evidently didn't tighten the inlet pipe properly...
Carpet, skirting and ds1s desk are water damaged.
I'm SO pissed off. I paid £25 for them to Install it too!
Carpet and desk less than a year old.
Anyone got any experience with getting replacement items from AO?
Got an "assessor" coming out tomorrow...
But for now we have no water as we can't touch it till they look at it.
Fun times.

Change of plans, my friend has just invited me out this evening to a gig and fireworks to celebrate the end of summer and its been forever since I've been out so that's really nice. Going to go for a walk, then stick the sauna on and make dinner and a cake (its pudding day), eat well and then go out and enjoy the Venetian festival (what they call the celebration at the end of the boating and summer cabin season here)

Brunch

Lazyish day. 1 bed stripped. 3 loads of washing done and hung out. Need to put the bedding back on later. Remainder of the time sat in the garden although the weather here is disappointing as it's very cloudy and not as warm as predicted I dont think.

Gusto meal to make later on.

@IpanemaChic I too have lots of unfinished bits - my plan, before starting a blanket for myself, is to go through them and either frog them or finish them off. I think most will be frogged tbh...I have a tendency to start very enthusiastically then get bored.

Progress has been made here - I have finished the dolls house living room furniture and almost finished the bedroom. I'm debating whether to freshen up the bathroom with a lick of white acrylic before varnishing it all.

Dd1 has finally chosen acceptable school shoes and, they were in the sale reduced from £50something to £20, and I found a 20% off code online so that took off the delivery charge. Quite pleased with that!

Relatively lazy morning- did a wash, dropped DH at work, played with DD. After lunch the two of us went to a local English Heritage site which was having a Georgian day, so DD has had a whale of a time playing in the playground, listening to Georgian folk music and watching a fire juggler (“mummy! He’s not supposed to touch fire!”) followed by an ice cream.

We’re all back home now, DD is watching Ben and Holly while I mumsnet and await my sausages and chips for tea
