Best Champneys alternative?

I haven't had a holiday in years, and I'm at the point where I need a break because I'm running on empty.

I'm after something like Champneys, where they feed you, you switch off and just have lovely spa treatments. Basically, a nice, relaxing holiday for someone who needs rest. However, Champneys treated their guests appallingly during lockdown with cancellations, and I'm reluctant to patronise them because of that. (I did enjoy Tring, though, when I went!)

I know Grayshott closed down during lockdown, so that's out.

I'm after anywhere easy to get to from London - London itself is OK, even as far as Scotland is OK if it's either near a train station or within a taxi ride of a train station. I just don't want to drive to the middle of nowhere as that's not relaxing at all.

I'd consider going abroad if it's somewhere I can fly to from London easily.

Thanks so much for any recommendations!

I stayed at Sopwell Manor in St Albans recently. I upgraded my stay to include the Cottonmill Spa facilities. I went with my daughter (post A level treat) and we had a lovely time. The food was excellent as were the treatments and it was lovely.

In terms of transport, it's easy to get to St Albans from London and the spa is really close to the station.

why, what did Champneys do? I always thought it looked nice.

I know Sopwell Manor, I went years ago but it's really pricey now. I don't go away much at all though, so I don't know what prices are like now.

it was very nice, good atmosphere. I was alone one night before boyfriend joined and found it fine to be there alone. I travel for work occasionally and some places are weird on your own, but that was nice.
