Suggestions for fun things to do in Birmingham

Hello,

I’m meeting a friend in Birmingham for the day as it’s conveniently in the middle of where we are both travelling. However, it’s a city we are both unfamiliar with. We just want a fun day to spend some quality time together and would love some suggestions!

Think-tank / Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. They've recently had a big revamp and are really modern and have some great exhibitions.

The Coffin Museum is worth a visit

Golf Fang Birmingham is good fun!

Check out the Irish bar, just off the main square

Botanical gardens

The 'Back to Back' tenement house museum tour is wonderful ! Takes about an hour .

The Jewellery Quarter might be of interest as well as the obvious shops there is a great jewellery museum in an original old factory and there is a great selection of eating options. A short taxi or tram ride from city centre

That and the M6, heading north obvs

The Botanical Gardens are gorgeous and just a short bus ride from the city. Nice cafe too.

Go see the commonwealth games 'bull' from the opening ceremony.

Go to the library- it's huge and the views from its two gardens are worth the climb!
