Whale watching in Whitby

Has anyone been whale watching in Whitby recently? I’ve got a 7YO with ASD who is desperate to go see whales. He’s obsessed with all sea creatures and we spend a lot of time (and money!) at aquariums. He has a 3YO sibling and I’m not sure if they’re old enough to go on the boats? I’ve tried contacting tours that I’ve found online but none seem to be updated recently so I’m not sure if they’re even running still. It’s a couple of hours to get there, so I don’t want to travel all that way and not be able to get on a tour because of their age, or because I should have pre booked.

any advice greatly welcomed :)

I’ve been a million times and have yet to clap eyes on a whale.
not very helpful sorry but I really don’t think you can watch whales in Whitby, if you can then please accept my apologies

We went there last year no mention of this if you can’t find details on line fear you have your answer…

I'm going there on the weekend, I can ask if you like? I know they get minke whales in the area; the whale watching trip site says they're running in September...
