Is it Tobias' Room or Tobias's Room?
Thanks 😊

Usual rule nowadays is that if you pronounce the extra S, then it takes the 's, so it would be Tobias's room. The exceptions to this rule are generally certain classical names and some place names.

I would write Tobias's because that's what I'd say. But I'd write Dickens' novels.

Both are considered correct. My choice is Tobias's, partly because I pronounce the extra 's' in the final syllable and partly because I find it helps to avoid confusion around possessive apostrophe rules.

Tobias's room.

That makes sense thanks all 😊

Both options are technically correct, so unless you are a writer adhering to a specific style guide then it is just a matter of personal preference.

Some would argue that Tobias's is more prevalent in British English style guides and becoming more popular in American English. It is also more in keeping with grammar rules regarding singular nouns and possession, so probably less contentious.

Neither option is actually incorrect though, so crack on with whichever option you prefer.
