He can get stuffed.

If I have to replace white goods, I’m taking it with me when I leave.

My washing machine was in the house when I moved in. When it broke I asked the agency to fix it and they came back and told me the landlord says it isn’t his, it was just left in the house by the previous tenant. So I fixed it myself and now…it’s mine, I guess, because he’s already told
me it isn’t his!

I had something like this once!

Replaced a really crap washing machine with a brand new one complete with cover.

When I moved out I bought a second hand expensive model washing machine which was advertised as having a fault (it didn't spin) so I only paid £20.

Left that there and took my brand new one with me.

Now I know it sounds a bit of a dick move but I rented the house as a long let for me and my family. We'd been there 6 months before they told us they now needed to live in the house themselves and were kicking us out once the first year contract was up.
It really left us in the shit with all the expenses of moving again.

Also, when I found a really close by house to rent before the contract was up they wouldn't let us out early and said that we could move out but still had to pay all rent owed.

They thought that was the brand new replacement and phoned me up asking me how to work it. Then called to tell me it was broken and flooded the kitchen and could I give them the number of the breakdown cover!

Obviously I couldn't help and expressed my disappointment at having to leave my very expensive washing machine for them to break.

Best £20 I've ever spent!

I wish it was a legal requirement for landlords to be certified and that certification included having to go on a course to educate them about a little thing called The Fucking Law.
