Sell gran's bracelet ?

Hello !

Just looking for peoples opinions. As a young child I used to enjoy playing with a charm bracelet that belonged to my gran. Each charm represented something special in her life and it was left to me when she passed away.

I once had it valued and was told the charms aren't worth much but the actual bracelet was as made of gold.

I never wear it as very heavy and clunky and would be scared to lose anything so it has been kept in a drawer.

I was very close to my gran and for sentimental reasons would hate to part with it . However, I am also a musician and would benefit from the cash to purchase a new instrument of a much better quality . This I would use every day.

Would you sell it ? I would keep the charms as not worth much (and is what I liked as a child).

Yes I would sell it and keep the charms.
gold is very high value at the moment

No!

Are the charms definitely not gold? I think I know the style you are talking about and its unusual to attach non gold charms. If you sell make sure you get the real value. Look up the rate of gold for 9ct or 14ct or whatever it is per gram.

Charms on another bracelet, new instrument,
you're not using it as it is,
you'll benefit from it in a different way, hanging on to stuff drags us down...
you can remember her daily through the new instrument

Yes, sell. You could always get a leather strap for the charms.

TopGolfer · 24/08/2022 22:44

I would.

Even if the charms were gold i wouldn't sell them . Not just now anyway. But the bracelet is quite unattractive in my opinion.

Keep the charms, you could put some on any necklace chains you have and sell the bracelet.

GetOffTheRoof · 24/08/2022 22:48

Yes, absolutely sell. It's just sitting there, you won't wear it anytime at all, but you can keep the charms. Maybe find another way to actually display them? Or pick one to wear on a necklace perhaps?

You'll get more joy out of the musical instrument and you'll positively remember your gran more often that way I suspect.

I was going to say no, don't do it, but then read your post. I agree with you.

What would your gran want for you?

lovelychops · 24/08/2022 23:02

I had this situation! I kept a few of the charms I wanted and sold the rest. I used the money towards buying a house so it wasn't like I just blew the money. I know my nan would have helped us out if she had been around so I felt like it was OK to do it. I never wore the bracelet either so I didn't miss it if that makes sense

Pamlar · 24/08/2022 23:13

I would sell the bracelet.
You still have the charms.
Surely your grandmother would be so happy you were furthering your passion and career.
