My ds is starting primary school in a few weeks. Is dojos for staff to inform parents of things ? I've Downloaded it but don't really know what it's for.

Also would the teachers put a party invite on there for all the parents in my sons class? I'm conscious I don't want to put it on the WhatsApp as both classes are on there !

Our school uses Class Dojo for:

Messages from the teacher to parents. Things like "don't forget PE kit tomorrow".

Teachers use it to award kids points for effort / good behaviour (like housepoints)

Headteacher shares whole-school news.

Parents can private message teacher if not urgent.

Children can receive and submit homework tasks.

It's not used for parents to communicate with each other or for the kids to chat between themselves either.

Oh ok that's good. So if ask his teacher to put a message on for the parents from his class re his party would that be OK?

I very much doubt they would put a party invite on there, you need to arrange that yourself via the WhatsApp group or physical invites to hand out at the school.

Dojo is really useful for communication between school and parents but that's all it's for.

No, this would not be allowed at our school at all. It’s only for school messages and not other things like party invites I’m afraid!

Oh OK. At the moment the 2 classes are on one whatsapp so is a bit awkward
