Any hairdressers here? How often should you go for a trim

How often should you go for a trim?
I spent years trying to grow my hair long. I avoiding the hairdresser and did my own trims. My hair was about bra strap length so it was long enough for me to pull my hair to the front and trim. I used a hairdressers scissors.

I reckon I did more damage doing it that way.

It's only within the past 8 months I started going back to the hairdressers for more regular trims. I started in January and went again in June. I really tried to get back in April or May but my back was to the wall being so busy for weeks.

I think I need another trim again. My hair grows uneven. My hair does feel and look so much more better but I have uneven ends.

I get mine done every 6/8 weeks-just a trim to neaten it up
my dd can go 9/10 weeks but she has perfect hair-i think most recommended 8 weeks or so

I am not a hairdresser but get my hair cut/trimmed every 7 weeks. It grows longer doing this so I alternate between a cut and more of a trim to keep it bra strap length, I have lovely ends.

How does it grow longer?

It grows half an inch a month so if I’m getting half an inch trimmed off every 7 weeks that’s 3 week of growth left so it would get longer and longer if I kept doing this.

Oh I see, I thought you meant getting it trimmed actually makes it grow longer/faster than not trimming it Grin
