Baby always bumping his head

10.5 month old baby is constantly falling and banging/hitting his head now that he's started to crawl. Yesterday he was banging on the radiator and fell forward and hit his head, today he was kneeling to the sofa and fell and face planted the floor and has now got this other mark. I feel so guilty it’s because we’ve got hard floors in the living room and laminate throughout the rest of the downstairs but I don’t know how I can help it other than wrapping him in bubble wrap. I have a large mat in the living room for him to play on but he's always venturing off. Is this normal or should I maybe get him checked out? He screamed when it happened and it took a little while to calm him but he's happy as Larry now, but has these 2 marks which look quite sore.

What happened with the sofa? Was he kneeling on it or against it?

I'd get some foam playmats or a thick rug if you've only got hard floors.

I don't think he needs to be checked out for those bumps unless his behaviour is giving you cause for concern.

I've also just noticed one of his teeth that's coming through looking like this, I'm wondering if he's banged that when he face planted the floor earlier? (Please excuse my nails which need re-done).

He was kneeling on the floor against the sofa, trying to get the remote when he lost his balance and fell. I do have one of those large foam mats but due to the layout of the room I wouldn't be able to get a bigger one to fit round the furniture!

I have one of these and mumsnet told me all those years ago NOT to buy a little padded helmet for him. I went with the advice and I wish I hadn’t. He has banged his head so frequently in his life that he now has three scars and we’ve had multiple trips to A&E for gluing. It’s got so bad now that he has to wear a crash hat on the trampoline and the new rule is when they come with me to the supermarket too. As he also acts so ridiculous he cracked his head on a concrete floor a few weeks back.

ive honestly had enough of it. We’re seven years in and I feel like we’ve worked out way through two many of his nine lives.

so get your child a little padded helmet and keep their head safe. They’re too precious and it’s not worth the risk.

I’m so worried about this too 😩

He is constantly knocking his head, not always hard, but constantly. You hear about rugby and football players getting MS and dementia from so many head impacts… I’m worried my boy will end up with one of these conditions too!
