The mystery of the missing parcel!

We have CCTV in our front garden.

I had an order coming yesterday and realised last night it hadn't arrived. Checked tracking and said it have been delivered at 2pm. Weird. We were all in.

So this morning I go and check the bins and garden, nothing.

I check amazon and they said its been 'posted to letterbox'

Nothing in hall.

So I check the CCTV

At 1.53 parcel man pulls up. Walks to door with a large, rigid, flat parcel. Too big to be posted through letterbox.

Now I can't see him at the door but he's out of frame for about 2 seconds which tells me he didn't stand there folding it up and pushing it through, so I assume he just places it on step. He may have knocked, no idea but usually if they do dogs go mad.

We go out for dinner at 4pm.andbstep outside to no parcel. Here's the weird thing. I've checked the CCTV for those 2 hours... No one comes in the garden. Noone.

So where the fuck is it?

Driver definitely left empty handed.
It's nowhere near the front door.
Noones come in the garden.
It's not been posted into the house

WTF?!

Can I claim it back via amazon? Technically it was delivered to the property but we don't have it. I don't understand.

I keep wandering outside to look at the step area 😂

Could it be standing upright against the wall but behind pipes?

WeAreTheHeroes · 24/08/2022 11:59

It must be behind or under something then if no one else has been there and he didn't take it away with him. Unless he stuffed it up his top?

WhereTFisit · 24/08/2022 12:00

It's not outside. Me DH and kids have checked everywhere. It's a very small area with no bushes or anything. It would be very visible

It's literally just a front door, 2 potted plants, nothing else!

Nope, it's a flat thing, think vinyl record shaped, and he walks off normally. The pics are very clear, we just don't have coverage of the front door.

It's driving me crazy.

Have you checked in the bins, not just behind them? (Probably you have, but worth asking!)

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 24/08/2022 12:03

Is it slight enough to have blown away into more of the garden? Especially if it's flat it may catch the wind.

WhereTFisit · 24/08/2022 12:03

It's not actually a vinyl record it's a pair of swimming shorts but it's in one of those large, glat amazon envelopes. So it could have been folded and pushed through technically but he's not there long renough to do so and it's not in the house.

Also is it inside the letterbox folded up? Like stuck between? Has a DC seen it and taken it?

picklemewalnuts · 24/08/2022 12:05

Under a mat?

picklemewalnuts · 24/08/2022 12:05

Under a wheelybin?

Yes, they often put parcels in my paper bin but it's not there and the CCTV shows him walk directly to the door and back, doesn't touch the bins.

The swim shorts were only £6 so I'm not really arsed. I've ordered another pair already. It's just the unknown.

Could the dogs have taken it x hidden it, if it came through letterbox?

PhotoDad · 24/08/2022 12:11

How mysterious!

TheVolturi · 24/08/2022 12:15

Blown away is my bet.

Rosewaterblossom · 24/08/2022 12:18

Could he have put it under his top/jacket and walked off normally? Made it look like he'd delivered it on your camera which he probably spotted?

Would it be possible for it to have been thrown over a fence or something into your back garden?

This happened to me. A pack of M&S school shirts so not Amazon but Hermes (as was). Found it in a bush three days later. The main issue for me was that they would have had to go onto my next door neighbour's property (opening a 6 foot gate) to do so.

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 24/08/2022 12:51

Could your neighbour have seen the package loose outside and taken it in?

MogHog · 24/08/2022 13:07

Is it a proper CCTV set up or the like of a ring cam as I've noticed that mine doesn't always pick up every person who comes into the garden rather annoyingly. I keep pestering DH to get the proper CCTV back up from our old house

Yes proper, 5 camera set up.

We don't have a ring doorbell. I want one though!

Is it stuffed between pipes and the wall six feet up?

That was how my sisters birthday gift was delivered, even though her partner was in...

ThePumpkinPatch · 24/08/2022 14:18

This happened to me with a tiny pouch containing a Barbie dress in an Amazon envelope! Found it three weeks later (after having been replaced...) all wet & messed up, in my neighbour's Hydrangea

WhereTFisit · 24/08/2022 16:48

Mystery solved.

Just been in DD room to get washing and there it was. I asked her yesterday if there was any parcels 😒

It had been posted through and she grabbed it on way up as she knew it was her swim shorts and when I asked about it she 'forgot' 😂

At least I know I'm not crazy now
