I just went into my 19yo and 16yo dc's rooms to put clean laundry on their chairs. They were still asleep and I couldn't resist giving them each a kiss. So soft and warm and squidgy... just like the toddlers they once were, not the hairy, spotty, smelly grunters they are now. (I'm being unfair. They are neat, clean and courteous as well.) One of them opened his eyes with the same puzzled "Wha'?" that he used to give when woken from his nap, followed by a gravelly "G'mornin' Mum" and his arm draped around my neck.
I don't care whether it's a blessing, the product of hard work, or sheer luck. It's wonderful.
