What can I expect for bills? So worried

Just moved into a four bed from a two bed. I’m so worried. 5k a year on heating and gas? Is that actually going to be my bill? I genuinely don’t know how I will pay for it. I may have to rent out the house and find a flat if so.

The £5,000 is an average - yours may be less. There's a new thread today asking for people's average use and there's a huge variation. That said, when we moved from an estate box type house into a Victorian semi, all of our bills jumped, so you do need to be careful.

Read your meters every day and work out average weekly use (summer). When the clocks go back and heating goes on, do it again and monitor - our heating bill was really high, but that was a big house with sash windows and little insulation when we moved in.

You need to think about your hearing and hot water use.
We are in a 4 bed and the kids always had blankets and thick PJs dressing gowns socks etc and we rarely had the hearing on - usually an hour in the morning and a couple of hours in the evening.

Other families had the hearing on all day and some over night.

We have a log burner so we use the hearing less and it keeps an even temperature going.

if I save 5k will that cover full time use over winter?
